Need to File an Appeal for the Result for Group 2000 at the Turkish Track Championship
Opel drivers dominated the 11th and 12th races of the contentious championship that took place at the Gulf Track on Sunday, October 7. Group 2000 driver Berke Bayındır and Group 1600 driver Özen Özer exhilarated the spectators at the Gulf Track with their Corsas.
The consistently bold and brave Opel drivers won 3 cups this time at the Gulf Track and impressed everyone. The Opel Performance driver Özen guaranteed the title in Group 1600 right before the last race to be held in Izmir. Özen Özer has ranked the first in all 12 races he has attended this season!
Berke Bayındır also made it to the podium besides rivals racing with BMW at the first race in Group 2000 at the Gulf Track. However, at the second race of the day a contact on his car’s rear left bumper followed by a spin resulted in a crash to another car and left him out of the race. Ibrahim Okyay, the driver who seriously damaged Berke’s Corsa when he was the second then became the second.
The Team Director Enis Alpsoy placed an objection to the Sports Officials at the race and asked to do what is required as a result of the incident which was believed to be on purpose and which took place right in front of the Opel Performance administrators’ eyes. However, the objection was refuted. Right after this, the Opel Performance administration filed an appeal to the Turkish Motor Sports Federation. Therefore, the cup ceremony could not take place in Group 2000. The court will convene for this race and examine the appeal in detail and will declare their decision at the latest in 30 days.
The Team Director Enis Alpsoy stated that their rivals have had jump starts, have overtaken under yellow flag conditions, and had deliberate crashes up to now and they have not received any punishments although they increased the tension with these incidents. The Team Director also stated that the officials at the Turkish Track Championship should be more sensitive, otherwise they would have to review their plans for the next year.
